Jan 2007: Federal Minister for Tourism Ms Nilofer Bakhtiar, visited Costa Coffee outlet with Mr. Amin Wali Muhammad (Vice Chairman Gerry's Group) and Mr. Ameer Ali (Senior General Manager Gerry's Tours and Travels). They discussed how they could collaborate and promote tourism in Pakistan, as the year 2007 has been declared The Year for Tourism by the government of Pakistan.

In Pakistan, Costa Coffee is operated as a franchise by a joint venture between the Gerry's Group and MMI (a subsidiary of Emirates Group) and will bring an international coffee experience to the quality conscious consumer in all of Pakistan’s prime locations.

The Costa coffee story began in 1971 when brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa bought their coffee roasting experience over from their native Italy to London. Initially they only sold wholesale to caterers and specialist Italian coffee shops. Their blending and roasting process was unique. A mix of six parts Arabica beans to one part Robusta beans, undergoing a slow roasting process, produced a fuller flavored, less bitter taste. This is the same blend that is still used today.
